U.K. CHARTS: BOWIE'S RECORD BREAKING WEEK
1/29/16

David Bowie’s chart dominance continues this week with 12 Top 40 entries in the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart today, levelling the star with another late legend, Elvis Presley, who achieved the feat following his death in ’77.

Bowie’s swan song Black Star (RCA) remains at #1, with Best of Bowie at #3, Nothing has Changed at #5, Hunky Dory at #9 and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars at #10. With five albums in the Top 10, Bowie is the second artist in history to have scored the same, the second being Michael Jackson, who had with six following his passing in 2009.

On the Official Singles Chart, the remix of Tracy Chapman’s ’88 hit “Fast Car” (Virgin EMI) by London producer Jonas Blue, featuring new artist Dakota, has kept its midweek peak of #3, shooting 58 places thanks to support from Bauer’s Kiss radio station. It's the first of four tracks that feature in the Top 5 this week from Ted Cockle’s UMG U.K. imprint, which also boasts Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” at #1, Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” at #2 and “Sorry” at #4.

Rounding off the Top 5 is the Snakehips, Tinashe & Chance the Rapper track “All My Friends”—released by Mark Terry and Alison Donald’s Sony U.K.'s Columbia—which climbs three spots to #5.
