PINK FLOYD DIGS EVEN DEEPER INTO THE VAULTS
7/28/16

Sony Legacy has compiled enough Pink Floyd pre-Dark Side of the Moon rarities to fill 27 discs in a box set that will be released 11/11.

The Early Years 1965-1972 (on Pink Floyd Records via Legacy) will include more than 20 unreleased songs among the set’s 130 tracks plus seven hours of rare concert footage. The set also features five 7-inch singles in replica sleeves, collectable memorabilia, feature films and new sound mixes. Previously unreleased tracks include 1967’s “Vegetable Man” and “In The Beechwoods.”

In addition to the deluxe set, a two-CD highlights album The Early Years—CRE/ATION will also be available on 11/11 through Pink Floyd Records. Each individual book-style package will be released separately early in 2017.

Here’s what the set encompasses:

Cambridge St/Ation. The Syd Barrett years of 1965-67: Pre-EMI demos, non-album singles, BBC sessions and an unreleased 1967 concert in Stockholm. The DVD/Blu-ray includes historic TV performances plus some of Pink Floyd’s own film material.

Germin/Ation. Includes post-Syd non-album singles, a recently discovered session at Capitol Records studios, BBC sessions and other tracks. DVD/Blu-ray includes a promo clip of “Point Me At The Sky” and TV performances.

Dramatis/Ation. 1969 recordings of their live production of The Man and The Journey from Amsterdam and the BBC in London, bonus tracks from the More soundtrack and non-album such as an early version of “Embryo.” Video material includes 20 minutes of rehearsals of The Man and The Journey the Royal Festival Hall.

Devi/Ation. The complete Zabriskie Point soundtrack, a BBC performance of Atom Heart Mother featuring an orchestra and choir. Video material includes an hourlong performance at San Francisco’s KQED plus French TV coverage of the St. Tropez festival.

Reverber/Ation. The original demos of 1971’s Meddle plus a BBC session, a quad mix of “Echoes” plus a performance with Roland Petit and his Marseille ballet company.

Obfusc/Ation. The 1972 Obscured By Clouds album plus a new 5.1 audio mix of Live At Pompeii and TV performances.

Continu/Ation. A bonus disc exclusive to the box set includes a CD of early BBC radio sessions, audio tracks from the film The Committee, the band’s live soundtrack to the 1969 NASA moon landing and video of live footage and the films The Committee, More and La Vallée.
