CROSSOVER
It’s hard to believe, but this week is the one-year anniversary of my working with HITS! It seems like just yesterday I was signing my life away, making sure I had EXTRA health care and acclimating myself again to the wonders of weed. The HITS (dysfunctional) family has been very supportive of my learning curve and limited writing skills, and they only remind me of my shortcomings when it’s bonus time. Here’s to another successful year full of, well, hell, I’ll be happy to just get through another year. In more important news, Beyoncé f/Jay Z’s “Drunk in Love” remains the #1 record in the country. Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White are gearing up for her new single, “Partition,” on 2/25. They currently have the hottest record on the planet with Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” which was up another 900 spins this week and leaps into the Top 10. There’s also John Legend’s “All of Me,” which sits at #17, up over 260 spins. It’s also taking off at Pop and was up nearly 1000 spins there. DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” and Calvin Harris f/Ayah Marar’s “Thinking About You” are also still climbing the chart; both are inside the Top 30 now. In a few weeks, they’ll impact DJ Cassidy f/Robin Thicke & Jessie J’s “Calling All Hearts,” so make sure you check that out if you haven’t spent time with it… Gary Spangler and Davey Dee continue to plug away with Lorde’s “Team.” It sits at #10 this week, up over 300 spins. Not far behind, SoMo’s “Ride” is at #12 and up 100 spins, Drake f/2 Chainz & Big Sean’s “All Me” comes in at #14, up 145 spins, and Sage the Gemini’s “Red Nose” is at #15, up 225 spins. And on the week they’re impacting Martin Garrix’s “Animals,” they debut it at #35, the biggest debut of the week… Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness have done a great job in taking YG f/Jeezy & Rich Homie Quan’s “My Hitta” to the Top 5. They also have Jay Z’s “Part II (On the Run),” with Beyoncé, moving to #27, up over 300 spins, and Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” at #3, still gaining new believers each week. They’re impacting Ludacris f/Wiz Khalifa, Jeremih & Cashmere Cat’s “Party Girls” this week, and have Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine (Eternal)” impacting next week. There’s also a brand new Iggy Azalea record that will be here shortly... RCA is also steady as a rock with their priorities. Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne’s “Loyal” sits just outside the Top 10 and increased 400 spins. It’s sure to be in the Top 10 next week. John Strazza, Inca and Lori G are also making moves with Shakira f/Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You.” They take it #39-36 this week and have new commitments as well. It’s still building at Pop too. And keep an eye on Miley Cyrus’ “Adore You.” This one’s climbing the chart, as well, and has a solid picture forming at Pop radio… Epic is a week or so away from charting Kat Dahlia’s “Crazy.” Rachael Spangler and team are all guns a blazing with this one, and the Shazam numbers are starting to show up in the markets supporting the record… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. may only have one record right now, but they’re making the best of it. Jason Derulo f/2 Chainz’ “Talk Dirty” moves #8-6 this week, up another amazing 845 spins.
