THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

It was another exciting week for March Madness. Syracuse storming back against Virginia was insane! The final four has Villanova vs. Oklahoma and Syracuse vs. UNC. I only had two of those in my bracket. Needless to say this year was a bust for me… again. So why not throw out a prediction? Villanova vs. UNC: UNC wins the tournament 79-72. And baseball’s Opening Day is right after.

Speaking of winning streaks, does it feel like Rihanna has been #1 forever?! Def Jam has kept Ri f/Drake’s “Work” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) at the top for a month straight and it’s still 1,700 spins ahead of the #2 record. Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness also take Jeremih’s “Oui” into the Top 5 after an amazing week, gaining 500 spins and showing no signs of slowing down. Justin Bieber’s “Company” (RBMG) moves to #26 thanks to a jump of 300 spins, while DJ Mustard‘s “Whole Lotta Lovin” (Roc Nation) climbs to #29. They’re impacting new G.O.O.D. Music artist Desiigner and single “Panda” this week, but it ALREADY debuted at #36 and was up 220 spins. It’s the most talked-about song of the moment. Iggy Azalea’s “Team” is impacting and should be on the chart in the next couple of weeks, especially considering that it’s up 200 spins this week already. And Def Jam is also readying Kanye West’s “Famous” for impact—the only official single from TLOP.

Republic’s Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole have Belly f/The Weeknd’s “Might Not” (CP/Roc Nation) moving to #6, after launching a 415+-spin jump. Zendaya f/Chris Brown’s “Something New” is just outside the Top 10 this week, gaining 160 spins and trending inside the Top 10 on the Building Chart. Mike Posner’s “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” (Island) is right behind them, jumping #15-12, up 440 spins. This is showing every sign of being a Top 5 record. The Weeknd’s “Acquainted” (XO) moves inside the Top 15, grabbing an additional 300 spins. Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” (YMCMB) lands at #19, up 200 spins, and Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” leaps #37-27, thanks in part to a 560+-spin increase. Keke Palmer is just getting started, and they’re impacting Nick Jonas’ “Close” (Safehouse/Island) this week. Make sure you’re aware of Justine Sky f/Vic Mensa’s “I’m Yours”; it’s got some big stations already supporting, like Hot 97 N.Y. and SiriusXM’s The Heat.

Epic’s Sujit Kundu has Fifth Harmony f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “Work From Home” (SYCO) rocketing to #18 this week. It was up 505 spins and Top 5 in sales at iTunes. Future f/The Weeknd’s “Low Life” (A1/Freebandz) enters the Top 25 after a 350+-spin increase. Meghan Trainor’s “NO” climbs to #30 with an increase of 180 spins. Trainor is selling like crazy, holding down iTunes’ #1 spot. Zara Larsson & MNEK‘s “Never Forget You” is at #40, up 70 spins. Nelly’s “Die a Happy Man,” meanwhile, is at #43 and they’re looking to get it on the chart this coming week.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White have The Internet’s “Girl” (Odd Future) at #28 this week. They also have J. Cole’s “Love Yourz” (Roc Nation) at #35, and they’re impacting The Chainsmokers f/Daya’s new single, “Don’t Let Me Down” (Disruptor), this week. Their expectations are to have 20-25 new stations this week, since it was up 130 spins at Rhythm and is already inside the Top 30 at Pop. They’re also a few weeks away from impacting Dillon Francis f/Kygo’s “Coming Over” (Mad Decent).

RCA’s two-headed monster of Inca and Lori G have Chris Brown’s “Back to Sleep” at #4 this week, up 390 spins. Kid Ink’s “Promise” moves to #7, gaining an additional 225 spins, and ZAYN’s “PILLOWTALK” comes in at #17 after a 310+ spin jump. Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange” moves #25-23, powered by a 225+-spin increase. A$AP Ferg‘s “New Level” (A$AP/Polo Grounds) comes in at #46 and is still developing.

Capitol’s Dixie Tipton has Young Greatness’ “Moolah” (QC/Motown) at #38 this week. That one, which is #12 at Urban, snagged a very impressive 140-spin increase and looks like it’ll grab another five to seven new believers this week.
