The Place Where Radio and Records come Together Without Talking
iGEN + THE MACHINE
2/12/15

Congrats to Ron Cerrito and Amanda Dobbins at Republic for an impressive launch with Incubus’ new single, “Absolution Calling.” It was by far away the Most Added song this week at Alternative radio, as 30 stations jumped right in, including KROQ, WWDC, 91X and KROX. The fun doesn’t stop there for them, as new music from Florence + Machine arrives Thursday; there’s a whole lotta buzz on this one. The hot promo duo also has Fall Out Boy’s “Uma Thurman” rolling with more action from WLUM. The Mowgli’s’ “I’m Good” is off to a solid start as well with KRXP and Alt Nation joining in…

Major kudos to David and Mike Jacobs for the launch of Offspring’s “Coming for You” (Time Bomb). In just two weeks, the track is already on over 75 Modern and Active Rock stations combined. I expect this one to quickly climb the charts and be inside the Top 25 next week!... It’s great to see Joywave’s “Somebody New” break through at radio. Hollywood’s Buddy Deal has this one poised for a major chart run. This week, the band is also added to iHeartMedia’s prestigious “On the Verge” round-up…

RCA’s dominating run continues as Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” prepares to be the label’s third consecutive #1, a feat I don’t believe has ever happened at Modern Rock. Major congrats to Dennis Blair and Jeff Gillis. It also was a strong week for Foo Fighters’ new single, “Congregation.” This feels like smash for the band that could go Top 5 and beyond. Bleachers go Top 5 with “Rollercoaster” All that being said, Cage the Elephant’s “Cigarette Daydreams” concludes its #1 run. And there’s continued development on Smallpools’ “Karaoke” as WKQX joins in...

Capitol’s Bill Carroll and Howard P are garnering some major buzz with In the Valley Below’s “Peaches.” It was one of those weeks you always remember when starting to launch a new project, as KROQ, KITS, KNDD, KBZT, WROX and KXRK all jump in. There are a few champions who make a week like this possible, as KRBZ K.C. and SiriusXM Alt Nation have Top Callout. The record Shazams wherever exposed; it hit #7 in Buffalo this week due to strong airplay from WLKK Buffalo. And how about KNRK Portland with 500x already?! I’d like to give a shout-out to Rob Cross from Sirius’ XMU, who told us all that this one was a smash last year. It really feels big, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, please do. Bill and Howard also score this week with Matt and Kim’s “Get It” (Harvest), which gets huge adds from WRFF and KNDD…

The hottest new record of the year belongs to AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf).” The track’s virtually closed out at radio. Red Bull’s Joe Guzik has done a superb job of guiding this soon-to-be Top 10 hit… By the way, Epic’s KONGOS are on their first U.S. headlining tour in support of their now-charted new single, “I Want to Know.” More impressive adds come in this week, including WRDA and KBZT. The label’s Lynn McDonnell also has a major hit on her hands with Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades on Fire.” The researching smash looks like it will go Top 5 next week and should start to make its run at #1 moving forward…

My favorite performance on the Grammys was from Hozier! It was so cool to see him with Annie Lennox. This week, his new single, “From Eden,” is off and running with CIMX. Columbia’s Mike DePippa is out, setting up new music from Passion Pit, which arrives at radio later this month. Oh, and this week in iGen, George Ezra’s “Budapest” rockets to #5 with massive support from 91X, KHTB, and WBOS to name a few.
