Judah & The Lion's "Over My Head" (Caroline) debuts at #22, up 700 spins! Other hot shot debuts include Walk The Moon's "Timebomb" (RCA) at #25 and Catfish & The Bottlemen's "Longshot" (Capitol) at #30. Plus, Bear Hands' "Blue Lips" (Q Prime) also debuts.

iGEN Alt Streaming- January 17, 2019

It's great to see some fresh entries into the top streaming tracks at Modern Rock this week. In the streaming world EDM is a big thing which brings a strong start for Seeb's "Grip" f/Bastille with about 1.5 million audio streams this week. We had real good debuts for Catfish & The Bottlemen, Walk The Moon and Judah & The Lion. Half Alive's (RCA) "Still Feel" is a record to watch as early streams looks rather promising. One of the early streaming winners in 2019 is Shaed's "Trampoline"and Flora Cash's "You're Somebody Else" comes all the way home with strong streams.

JUDAH & THE LION- "Over My Head"

It was quite a day yesterday for Judah & The Lion's "Over My Head."  The #1 most added track pretty much closed out the format with 70+ adds and looks to be one of the first breakout songs of 2019.  It's already trending at #25 after a few days of airplay.  Many congrats to Caroline's Marni Halpern and Marisa DiFrisco for such a stellar launch.

WALK THE MOON- "Timebomb"

This was the week that the alternative format got kicked into high gear for 2019.  One of the new releases was Walk The Moon's "Timebomb" which had a monster week getting close to 70 new adds.  This one looks like another big hit for RCA's Dennis Blair and his crew.  The band starts their US tour next week and then has a bunch of dates with Muse commencing in late February.

We always get some fresh music to start off 2019 and I am thrilled that one of the new songs is Catfish & The Bottlemen's "Longshot." Capitol's Gary Gorman has this Welsh based rock band  off to a great start at radio with some fantastic early airplay from AltNation, WRFF Philadelphia, KRBZ Kansas City, 91X San Diego and KPNT St. Louis among many others.  Check it out!

RUFUS DU SOL- "Treat You Better"

One of the new artists to watch in 2019 is Rufus Du Sol.  The Sydney Australia based band is off to a great start at radio with their first single "Treat You Better."  The next time in the states for them will be at Coachella.  The more I hear this song, the more it reminds me of M83's "Midnight City" which turned out to be a giant hit.  That's probably not fair, right?  This is real good!

THE RACONTEURS-"Now That You're Gone"

The Raconteurs returned with a double sided single featuring "Sunday Driver" and "Now That You're Gone." At radio "Now That You're Gone" is the choice and it made its chart debut this week.  Check it out!

It's great to see The Strumbellas back with their new single "Salvation" which is approaching Top 25 at Modern Rock and is now on 50 stations!! I look forward to seeing them perform on Saturday at iheart's AlterEgo concert here in Los Angeles.
