Randy Goodman dives deeply into all aspects of his operation elsewhere in this issue; suffice to say that he’s had a pretty eventful year. Ensconced in new offices in the Gulch (overlooking downtown and Music Row), SMN celebrated eight #1 country album debuts, including acclaimed sets from Grammy/CMA/ACM winner Maren Morris, Jake Owen, Kenny Chesney, double-Grammy nominee Miranda Lambert (the heralded double set The Weight of These Wings), trailblazer Kane Brown, Brad Paisley, Luke Combs and icon Dolly Parton. Meanwhile, the House of Goodman’s aggressive A&R is bearing fruit with LANCO, Ryan Hurd and Seth Ennis, among others, and the tandem set from superstar couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill is hotly anticipated. With his loyal lieutenants EVP/COO Ken Robold and EVP Promo/Artist Development Steve Hodges—at his side, Goodman also made strategic additions and adjustments to his team: John Zarling came aboard as EVP Marketing & New Business at the top of this year, while Dennis Reese joined as RCA Nashville SVP Promo, Jim Catino stepped up to SVP A&R and Angie Magill was promoted to SVP Legal & Business Affairs.
