Musicmetric Gets Savage

MUSICMETRIC GETS SAVAGE: Veteran industry exec Daniel Savage has been tapped by London-based Musicmetric, a provider of global trending data for music on the Internet, to head up the company’s U.S. operations after it recently joined A2IM, the U.S. trade organization for independent labels. Said the company’s Founder/CEO Gregory Mead: “Having Daniel on the ground in the U.S. will be a tremendous asset to us. He deeply understands the seismic power of data, and his relationships within the industry will help us quickly expand our American business. At least that’s what he tells me.” The 20-year music business veteran started his career as head of market research for PolyGram Records, where he was instrumental in the initial rollout of SoundScan. He has served as the GM at Maverick Records and held key marketing, sales and product management positions at Mercury, Atlantic, Island and Hollywood Records. Savage will remain President of his own B Major Entertainment, Inc., a strategic marketing agency he founded in 2005 and through which he works with a number of independent artists. (7/10a)
