Shaq Takes a Sleigh Ride

SHAQ TAKES A SLEIGH RIDE: Shaquille O'Neal, in white tie and tails, conducts the Boston Pops Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus in "Sleigh Ride,” as part of last night’s Holiday Pops Concert at Boston's Symphony Hall. ASCAP recently named Leroy Anderson’s 1946 classic the #1 most played holiday song of the current season. The tune’s been recordced by Wilson Phillips for their Christmas in Harmony CD, earned a 2008 Grammy nomination for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and has been recorded and performed by everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to the Chipmunks. An hour-long NPR special, hosted by Leonard Slatkin and the composer’s son Kurt Anderson, is set to air over the next few weeks. (12/21p)
