TOP 10 TRACKS

Post-Holiday Sales

Sales came crashing down to earth in the post-holidays hangover, but for the Top 5 singles, not so much. RCA certainly can’t complain about the 11% drop-off for Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” when the smash still moved more than a third of a million units for the week, bringing it past 2m in nine weeks. You cannot not hear this record, and it has no burn whatsoever. Is it too early to declare it a classic—or at least a neoclassic? We think not. Meanwhile, budding superstar Ed Sheeran is doing it again, jumping #4-2 on a 2% uptick, making it the only track on the big board in positive territory. Columbia’s Hozier’s ascension continues as well, as he holds #3 and is now looking down at Taylor Swift, for the moment, anyway. Epic’s Meghan Trainor’s second smash is spiking the momentum of Tuesday’s album release. And Nipper doubles its pleasure with the debuting “Ayo” from Chris Brown & Tyga.
