The first album in two years from Top Dawg/Interscope’s ScHoolboy Q shoots to #1 as iTunes welcomes a collection of new faces to its Top 10, one of which hasn’t been seen in more than a decade and a half.
The Blank Face LP takes the top slot, guided by lead single “That Part” f/Kanye West. Other guests on the album include Miguel, Anderson. Paak, Vince Staples, E-40, Tha Dogg Pound and SZA.
Two rock acts take over at #2 and #3: The deluxe edition of Where the Light Shines Through from San Diego’s Switchfoot, their 10th album overall and first for Vanguard, places, and Epic’s Chevelle has The North Corridor in the show position.
And Wildflower, The Avalanches’ long, long, long awaited follow-up to 2000’s Since I Left You, comes in at #7 in the early a.m. standings. The album, which is not available for streaming, is from Modular Recordings/Universal Music Australia.
Schoolboy Q is also making a major impression at Apple Music, where Blank Face LP has shot to #2 behind Drake. Logic’s surprise album Bobby Tarantino, released 6/30, has built a head of steam to rise to #3. The album is still not for sale.
