SPOTIFY LAUNCHES ARTIST-LED AUDIO SHOWS

Spotify is moving into Beats 1 territory after launching a series of artist-led shows, featuring names including Tinie Tempah, Wolf Alice, James Blake and Ryan Tedder.

Conceived by Cup and Nuzzle Promotions, AM/PM will see guests tell the stories behind the music that wakes them up in the morning and what they wind down to in the evening, centered around two 12-song playlists. Others involved in the launch are Jean Michel Jarre and Specials frontman Terry Hall, with Kaiser Chiefs, De La Soul, The Kills, Lianne La Havas, The Maccabees and Hot Chip set for future episodes.

The second audio show, Secret Genius, will feature interviews with acclaimed and up-and-coming songwriters telling the stories behind the songs. Those involved are Tedder, Blake, Nick Van Eede (who wrote Cutting Crew’s “I Just Died In Your Arms”), Ed Drewett (One Direction and Olly Murs) and Nicky Chinn (one half of ‘70s hit factory ChinniChap).

Apple Music's Beats 1 has the likes of Elton John, Charli XCX, Drake, Dre and more gracing its online airwaves. Is a Spotify equivalent on the horizon?
