SPOTIFY HAS MUCH PRAISE FOR BUTLER
Curb Records VP Promo and industry veteran John Butler joins Spotify as Head Of Christian Music, effective 4/24. And lo, he will bless your playlist.
In this Nashville-based post, Butler will oversee Christian music globally for Spotify through playlist curation, programming and written editorial and will report to Doug Ford, Spotify’s Senior Director North America, Shows & Editorial, Content & Creator.
Butler joins Spotify after 15 years at Curb (most recently as VP Promo) and after 20+ years in record promotion in nearly every genre. Prior to Curb, he served as Head of Promotion for Squint Entertainment (Sixpence None The Richer) and Arista Austin. Before that, Butler was based in NYC and served at TVT and Jive/Silvertone Records. He began his career as an intern at WHTZ (Z100) NYC in 1990.
His first task at Spotify will be instructing Daniel Ek to say grace before digging into the Swedish meatballs.
