HARRY TOUR GOES CLEAN IN A BLINK

Harry Styles’ big week—which saw the release of the Simon & Garfunkel-evoking “Sweet Creature,” the second track to appear from his 5/12 Columbia debut album—culminated on an emphatic note, as all 13 dates on his North American theater tour immediately sold out.

The tour—the first by a One Direction alumnus—was seen as a huge tell in terms of Styles’ drawing power, and he’s come through with flying colors, indicating that his legions of fans are willing to follow him on what’s shaping up as a radical, ambitious shift from 1D’s boy-band pop. Stops include the Greek Theatre in L.A., the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and Radio City Music Hall, cool venues befitting the stylistic focus of his new music and set to provide the most intimate live glimpse yet of the newly solo star.

Of course, the price of this intimacy is selling out in a heartbeat.

The social-media reaction indicates that the decision to stick to medium-sized venues is drawing the ire of fans who were shut out because of the limited number of tickets on sale. On Twitter, fans who didn’t score tickets are calling for Styles to add more stops or larger venues to his tour in order to accommodate the demand.

Styles is one of the first artists to sell ducats through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan protocol, which requires prospective ticket buyers to provide their names and email addresses up front in order to keep tickets out of the hands of scalpers. Michael Rapino is screaming with joy.
