CHART STORY: KESHA MAKES IT RAIN

As expected, Kemosabe/RCA’s Kesha wins this week’s chart battle by a landslide. The highly anticipated Rainbow—her first studio album in five years, and the only collection we know of to feature both Dolly Parton and Eagles of Death Metal—has officially gone #1 on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 119k.

The only other new release to make the Top 40 belongs to N-Less/Interscope’s Moneybagg Yo, whose Federal 3X comes on strong, bowing at #8 with 26k. Federal 3X is the debut album from the Memphis rapper, who was signed by Joie Manda and is managed by none other than Yo Gotti.

It’s worth mentioning that two of the Top 5 albums belong to RCA, while another two are Interscope, as Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. (TDE/Interscope) holds at #2 and Imagine DragonsEvolve (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) rises back up to #5 with north of 30k.

Khalid’s American Teen (Right Hand/RCA) enjoys a nice bump, going #13-4 with 32k, after being discounted to $5.99 at iTunes. That said, current single “Young Dumb & Broke” jumps #23-12 on the Streaming Songs Chart as it climbs at Rhythm radio and prepares to chart at Pop; breakout hit “Location”—which peaked at #1 Urban radio and #3 at Rhythm (and is currently in the Pop Top 30)—is now #10 on the Streaming Songs Chart, as well.

Following the release of a powerful, moving video that centers on a LGBTQ teen, Logic’s acclaimed Everybody (Def Jam) soars #42-24.

And as the Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 DVD and Blu-ray prepares to come out (on 8/22), the movie’s soundtrack—out via Hollywood—re-enters the SPS Chart at #30.

When it comes to SPS marketshare, UMG leads with 45%, SME is #2 with 38% and WMG is #3 with 16%, while the indies follow with 1%

Streeting this week are albums from RCA’s A$AP Ferg and labelmate Grizzly Bear, as well as HopelessNeck Deep and Def Jam’s Dave East.

In other news, Steve Bannon would like his old job in management back.
