BMG BAGS BIERY

BMG has tapped Tom “Grover” Biery, who spent 20 years at Warner Bros. Records, rising to General Manager/EVP, to lead BMG’s L.A. and New York recorded music teams.

As EVP Recorded Music, Biery will also work alongside BBR Music Group, S-Curve Records and Rise Records to further build the company’s scale in recordings. He will be based in Los Angeles and report to Zach Katz, President Repertoire & Marketing, BMG U.S.

“Grover is a heavy hitter with a wealth of experience navigating the new music business in both streaming and value-added physical formats,” said Katz. “We look to him to help guide our Los Angeles and New York teams to new heights as we pursue our strategy of giving proven talent the attention it deserves while also seeking breakout successes.”

Biery was most recently SVP, Streaming Marketing for Concord Music Group, overseeing the global digital and streaming strategy for all Concord labels, catalog and artists.

Prior to Concord, Grover was a founding partner of Collective Sounds, a label where artists were partners in all revenue streams and controlled their rights. As a manager at The Collective, he reinvigorated the career of Jimmy Cliff.

During his two decades at Warner Bros. Records, he helped usher in an early adoption of digital marketing and social media and re-launched the company’s vinyl operation. Besides being instrumental in Warner’s commitment to Record Store Day, Biery oversaw the marketing and career development of artists such as The Black Keys, Madonna, Linkin Park, Muse and R.E.M.

BMG's upcoming slate includes new albums from Morrissey, Andy Grammer, A Perfect Circle and Jason Aldean.
