COLUMBIA SCORES A HAT TRICK AT THE BEEB

Columbia U.K. has scored a winning streak in the BBC Music Awards, with its artists taking home three out of a possible four gongs. Said label head Ferdy Unger-Hamilton: “It’s great that the BBC have recognised the achievements of Declan McKenna, Rag’n’Bone Man and the Foo Fighters. It’s been a tremendous year for all three of them and for Columbia Records.”

The winners were revealed today during a one-hour BBC 2 special. British Album of the Year was Rag’n’Bone Man’s debut, Human, which has clocked up 850k sales to date after debuting at #1 earlier this year. Foo Fighters took Live Performance of the Year for their Saturday headline slot at Glastonbury, while up and coming artist Declan McKenna is BBC Music’s Introducing Artist of the Year. Independent grime artist Stormzy was awarded Artist of the Year after also hitting #1 with his debut album.

Bob Shennan, Director, BBC Radio and Music, enthused: “Congratulations to all the recipients of the awards and to the nominees - the calibre of all the artists involved this year was outstanding.”
