ROPPO UPPED TO EVP/GM AT THE ETHOS
Jim Roppo has been upped to EVP/GM at Republic Records, Founder/Chairman Monte Lipman has announced.
Roppo, a 20-year UMG veteran who joined Republic in 2012, was most recently the label's EVP, Marketing & Commerce. In his new post he will, according to the announcement, "oversee label operations" for the label and its partners. Roppo also received the difficult news that he'll still have to receive calls from our own Todd Hensley.
Said Lipman of Roppo, "His drive, determination and competitive spirit are intoxicating. Jim will have even more latitude to help steer the company into uncharted waters."
For his part, Roppo praised the label's "world-class roster and team," adding, "Charlie Walk is a creative force of nature. Avery Lipman operates with unmatched finesse and foresight. Monte is the ultimate coach, pushing you to not only meet your potential, but exceed it. And let me just add: ethosssss."
Walk was being bear-hugged by Diddy and was thus unavailable for comment.
