GRAMMY TELECAST DOWN 24% (UPDATE)

CBS's 60th annual Grammy Awards telecast was watched by 19.81m viewers, giving the awards show its lowest numbers since 2009 when 19.04m tuned in.

Viewership was down 24% from last year's TV audience of 26m viewers. The numbers went up 1.4m since the Nielsen’s fast nationals were announced early today.

Of the audience, 7.54m viewers were in the 18-49 demo.

This is the second year the Grammys have been broadcast live on both coasts and the first time in awhile that the entire broadcast has been in prime time. Most years, the final half-hour takes place between 11 and 11:30pm.

CBS's spin on the numbers is that the Grammys were the most-watched primetime entertainment program since last year's Oscars in February.
