PANTHER ROARS OUT OF THE GATES

A week before the Marvel film hits theaters, Black Panther the Album Music From and Inspired By (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) has dropped, and it’s quickly risen to the top of the iTunes chart. The 14-track album with the syntactically nutty, punctuation-free title is loaded with powerhouse collaborations from the most vibrant and trendsetting stars in the hip-hop/ R&B universe.

Inspired by the revolutionary tone of the breakthrough movie and curated by Kendrick Lamar, TDE CEO AnthonyTop Dawg Tiffith and the film’s director Ryan Coogler, the ST features TDE headliners SZA, Jay Rock and ScHoolBoy Q along with Travis Scott, Future, 2 Chainz, The Weeknd, Khalid, Jorja Smith and more.

Three of the five tracks Lamar is featured on have already been released, with the SZA collab “All the Stars” currently Top 15 at Rhythm and Top 20 Urban, while The Weeknd-Kendrick collab “Pray for Me” closed out nearly the entire Rhythm radio panel on impact last week, and “King’s Dead” f/Jay Rock, Future and James Blake is also climbing the airplay charts.
