UMe GETS HISTORICAL FOR RSD 2018

UMe has raided the vaults for new records from Bobbie Gentry, Ella Fitzgerald and Def Leppard; Killing Joke's 13th studio album is getting its first U.S. release; and Sublime's first cassette release makes its vinyl debut.

Here are the UMe's offerings for Record Store Day on 4/21:

Gentry's Live At The BBC (1,200 copies); Chet Faker’s 2012 debut Thinking In Textures (smoke-swirled clear vinyl; 2,000); David Bowie’s self-titled debut on red and blue vinyl in mono and stereo (3,000); the three-track Def Leppard Live From Abbey Road (4,000); Fitzgerald’s Ella At Zardi’s in 1956 on pink and opaque blue vinyl; Elton John vs. Pnau’s 2012 album Good Morning to the Night (clear vinyl; 1,100); and a 45 rpm mono transfer of Frank Zappa’s Lumpy Gravy: Primordial on translucent burgundy vinyl (4,000).

Also, a 45th anniversary edition of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On is being issued on red vinyl (1,000); the Soundgarden compilation A-Sides is a double LP on colored vinyl (5,000); Killing Joke's 2010 disc Absolute Dissent (2,000); The Who's companion album to the documentary The Kids Are Alright (red and blue vinyl; 3,000); and Sublime's four-track 89 Vision marks the 30th anniversary of the band.

The singles department will have a 12” of Gloria Gayner’s 40-YEAR-OLD “I Will Survive” b/w “Substitute” (1,500); Soft Cell’s “Say Hello Wave Goodbye” b/w “Youth” (1,500); and The Police’s 1978 release “Roxanne” b/w ‘Peanuts” (2,000).
