The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend


Disney and Marvel's Black Panther has now been #1 at the domestic box office for five consecutive weeks, becoming the first film to do so since 2009's Avatar. In doing so, the blockbuster earned $27m, bringing its grand total above $600m. Black Panther is expected to soon become the biggest superhero movie of all time; it's only around $18m away from The Avengers.

Three movies debut in the Top 5 this week, with Warner Bros.' Tomb Raider coming in at #2 with $23.5m. Meanwhile, Fox's Love, Simon rounds things out at #5. Considering the latter's A+ CinemaScore and 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, moviegoers can expect this one to grow in the coming weeks.
