The video for James Bay’s “Us” has just premiered on YouTube. The gospel-tinged humanistic ballad, which vaults from the personal to the universal in the cinematic clip, is the third track to appear from Electric Light (Republic), the English artist’s sophomore album, which drops 5/18 on Republic.
Bay first performed the song—which has already passed the 3-million-mark on Spotify—on Late Night With Seth Meyers earlier this month.
“Touring my music means I’ve been lucky enough to meet people all over the world and witness the phenomenal strength of crowds,” Bay says of the song’s inspiration. “Gigs can be the greatest proof that positivity and strength comes from us all sticking together.
"I wrote this song to explore unity and inclusion. Looking through the lens of my own personal relationships, this song turned out to be a particularly important moment on the album for me."
