CAA'S BANKS TO RECEIVE MITS AWARD

Respected British agent Emma Banks, co-Head of CAA in the U.K., will be honored with the annual Music Industry Trusts Award in November for her work across a 25-year career, repping acts such as Katy Perry, Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine and Lorde. She’s the first female exec to receive the gong across the MITs' 27 years in existence.

The award will be given during a ceremony in London on 11/5.

David Munns OBE, chairman of the MITS Award committee, said of the honor: “Emma’s innate ability to work with artists, build relationships and of course spot the talent in the first place makes her quite unique.

“A trailblazer for women in the industry from the outset, she is hugely respected by promoters, colleagues, artists and competitors alike. Coupled with a drive and enthusiasm rarely seen after nearly 30 years in the business, Emma is the deserving recipient of the 2018 Music Industry Trusts Award.”

Banks launched the U.K. office of CAA alongside Mike Greek in 2006. Her recent signings at CAA include Green Day, Muse, HAIM and Paramore. She started her career at Wasted Talent, and later built the agency that became Helter Skelter into one of the biggest independent talent agencies in the world.

Banks said: “I am rarely lost for words but when David Munns rang me to ask if I would accept the award I was honestly dumbfounded. The MITs ‘roll of honour’ is packed with people that I admire and respect.”

Past honorees include Rob Stringer, Sir Lucian Grainge, Ahmet Ertegun, Simon Cowell and Annie Lennox OBE.
