CHART STORY:
FEELIN' PRETTY

Carrie Underwood has scored a #1 Top 50 Chart bow for sixth studio album Cry Pretty with 260k, a smashing first foray for Capitol Nashville. This marks the biggest country debut since Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights—another Capitol Nash title—in August of 2015. Looks like Mike Dungan and Cindy Mabe’s tears are made of gold. We don’t know what ours are made of, but they fall frequently and taste oddly like bacon.

The week’s second-biggest new release comes from LVRN/Interscope’s 6LACK, whose East Atlanta Love Letter enters at #3 with 76k. Other noteworthy debuts include YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s 4Respect 4Freedom 4Loyalty 4WhatImportant (Never Broke Again) and Tony Bennett & Diana Krall’s Love Is Here to Stay (Verve/Columbia), which appear at #7 and #10 with 35k and 33k, respectively.

Eminem’s Kamikaze (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), meanwhile, holds at #2 in its third week out, tacking on 94k, following the release of standalone single “Killshot”—a diss track responding to Machine Gun Kelly’s “RAP DEVIL.”

It’s also worth noting that the #4, #5 and #6 albums—by YMCMB/Republic’s Drake, Cactus Jack/Grand Hustle/Epic’s Travis Scott and Republic’s Post Malone—are all up this week. Also up is XXXTentacion’s 17 (Bad Vibes Forever/Empire), which returns to the Top 25 following the posthumous release of a Lil Peep duet.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 66%, WMG follows with 18% and SME is #3 with 15%, while the indies claim 1%.

Streeting this week are projects from Reprise’s Josh Groban, Bad Boy/Interscope’s Machine Gun Kelly, Question Everything/RCA’s BROCKHAMPTON, Disruptor/Columbia’s The Chainsmokers, Paper Route Empire’s Young Dolph and RECORDS/Columbia’s Noah Cyrus, as well as nine-track Prince set Piano & a Microphone 1983 (NPG/Warner Bros.) a greatest hits album by Warner Bros.’ Kid Rock.
