SPOTIFY TO SCHOOL INDIE ARTISTS

Spotify is introducing an event series for independent artists to connect them with industry experts—label execs, booking agents, creative directors, guys who says “buddy” a lot—under the banner of Co.Lab.

Each event, open to participants in the Spotify for Artists program, will be organized around a particular theme. The first season will take place in New York and Los Angeles and topics include collaboration, release strategies, touring, merch, and revenue streams.

Applications for the first five events are being accepted beginning today. The caveats: the artist has to be over 21, verified on Spotify for Artists and have at least a thousand followers on Spotify.

Among the folks they’ve lined up to speak are Capitol Music Group’s Head of Creative Sync Licensing Jenny Swiatowy, music supervisor Morgan Rhodes, lighting designer Alex Gvojic and video director Malia James.

In the coming weeks, updates and additional experts will be announced on Instagram and Twitter.
