U.K. CHARTS: ROD SCORES NINTH #1

Rod Stewart has his ninth #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Blood Red Roses (Decca) on 41k combined sales. Manager Arnold Stiefel is so delighted that he doesn't even mind seeing his name on our own unsavory website.

Over on singles, Calvin Harris & Sam Smith are #1 for a fifth week while Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper start at #13.

In topping the chart, Rod draws with Eminem for the most #1 albums in the U.K., alongside ABBA and Queen.

Cher sits behind Rod at #2 with her best opening week sales in 21 years with Dancing Queen (Warner Bros.). At #5, Lil Wayne has his highest charting album in Blighty to date with Tha Carter V (Cash Money).

Following the death of Chas Hodges, beloved British duo Chas & Dave are at #8 with career retrospective Gold (Demon), followed by Nile Rodgers & Chic with 1979—It’s About Time (Virgin EMI) at #10.

DJ and producer Sigala enters at #13 with debut album, Brighter Days (Ministry of Sound), followed by Irish rock band Kodaline at #15 with Politics of Living (RCA); Logic starts at #19 with YSIV (Virgin EMI).

On the Official Singles Chart, Calvin Harris and Sam Smith are still #1 with “Promises” (Columbia) leading by 12k combined sales ahead of Marshmello and Bastille, who rise two places to #2 with “Happier” (Positiva).

Silk City f/Dua Lipa have also moved up three places to #4 with “Electricity” (Columbia), while Rita Ora jumps eight spots to #6 with “Let You Love Me” (Atlantic). Freya Ridings’ “Lost With You” (Good Soldier) is up 11 to #9.

Lady Gaga and Cooper’s “Shallow” (Polydor) is the highest new entry at #13. Sigala f/Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor and French Montana's “Just Got Paid” (Ministry of Sound) is up 16 spots to #17, while supergroup LSD break the Top 20 with “Thunderclouds” (Syco) advancing five slots to #18.
