With its $100m deal with Nielsen due to expire at year’s end, CBS is considering ending its relationship with the data company, according to a Variety report. Citing a source, the trade says barring a new deal with a “competitive rate” for the present media universe, CBS could well sever ties with Nielsen—and has already asked its affiliate stations and other divisions to explore other options.
The story follows in the wake of Nielsen's difficulties in providing chart data for the Bible, which have prompted similar ponderings in the music world.
