CHART STORY:
HOZIER'S #1, BABY!

Ron Perry’s Columbia can celebrate having two debuts in the Top 10 of the HITS Top 50 Chart this week, as Hozier’s sophomore album, Wasteland, Baby!, dominates at #1 with 89k and Solange’s fourth LP, When I Get Home, comes in at #6 with 44k.

It's noteworthy that the Irish singer/songwriter has far surpassed the 58k of his 2014 self-titled debut set (which bowed at #2) without benefit of a hit like “Take Me to Church,” the powerhouse single that put him on the map. Somewhere in NYC, Perry is dancing a jig while downing a pint of Guinness.

2 Chainz’s Rap or Go to the League (Gamebread/Def Jam) and Lil SkiesShelby (Atlantic) also enjoy lofty bows, landing at #4 and #5 with 65k and 54k, respectively.

Other key new releases include Weezer’s Weezer (Black Album) (Crush Music)—at #16, with just north of 26k—and Tom Petty & The HeartbreakersBest of Everything (Geffen)—at #18, with just a few hundred units less.

As for the label groups, UMG has 48% of marketshare, WMG’s 29% serves as the second-biggest piece of the pie and SME has 21%, while the indies claim 2%.

Streeting this week are projects by Grade A/Interscope’s Juice WRLD and Columbia Nashville’s Maren Morris.
