The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend

Two Disney/Marvel movies occupied the top of the domestic box office this weekend, with Avengers: Endgame debuting at #1 with a record-shattering $350m. The film managed to deliver the largest opening weekend of all time, both for the U.S.—with more than $350m—and the world; globally, it surpassed the $1b mark. The previous domestic record was held by Avengers: Infinity War, which opened to $258m last year. Before that, it belonged to Star Wars: The Force Awakens—yet another Disney flick released via studio Buena Vista—which bowed with $248m in 2015.

Endgame earned rave reviews, scoring an A+ CinemaScore and a 96% at Rotten Tomatoes.
