TOP 50 SONGS YTD

Why is this man smiling? You’d be smiling too if, like Republic ruler Monte Lipman, you had four of the year’s Top 10 songs, with a pair apiece from Ariana Grande and Post Malone.

IGA chieftain John Janick has reasons to be cheerful too—nine to be exact, with that many entries in the Top 50, led by #5 J. Cole (Roc Nation/Interscope) and #10 Lady Gaga-Bradley Cooper.

The fastest-rising track is, of course, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” which is #3 with a rocket, and Columbia topper Ron Perry leads the storied label back to the promised land. Capitol’s Halsey, Atlantic’s Meek Mill and Epic’s Travis Scott occupy the rest of the Top 10 real estate.

As for Top 50 marketshare, UMG accounts for a hefty 52%, while WMG snags 29% and Sony Music has 17%.
