TIKTOK OWNERSHIP REMAINS UNCHANGED

Remember when Oracle and Walmart were going to buy TikTok’s American operations? The deal was never finalized and now it’s on hold.

The Wall Street Journal reports that President Biden’s team is reviewing Donald Trump’s efforts to address the potential security risks posed by Chinese tech companies.

TikTok owner ByteDance had successfully challenged the Trump-led charge to get TikTok sold to an American company. A ban on the app that Trump proposed never came to pass.

The government’s deadline to issue a formal response to TikTok’s most recent court challenge against Trump’s executive order is due 2/18. Biden’s team could extend the deadline, install a new order or rescind the order outright.
