I’m sorry... Every little league ball player is taught to slide and take out the second baseman, and Utley didn’t go in spikes-up. He simply went in hard. There’s no reason why he should be suspended! As for the Florida QB and the USC coach, those suspensions are deserved. Man, I love this time of year...

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio, Cooper & Strazza are holding down the #1 spot for a second week with R. City f/Adam Levine’s “Locked Away.” The track is still #1 on Shazam worldwide and #3 in the U.S. Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s” is now Top 20 and pulled in 10 new adds last week. Meanwhile, Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias’ “El Perdon (Forgiveness)” continues to grow and looks to move Top 30. Becky G’s “Break a Sweat” (Kemosabe) has charted and is on 50+ stations. They have two tracks bubbling just under the chart; Sia’s “Alive” (Monkey Puzzle) is on 85 stations and should chart this week, while Pentatonix’s “Can’t Sleep Love” is closing in on the chart and has great major market support from Z100, SiriusXM’s Hits 1 and Venus, B96 and WRVW.

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan are dropping One Direction’s newest single, “Perfect” (SYCO), this week, just as its predecessor, “Drag Me Down,” moves Top 10. They’re impacting Rachel Platten’s “Stand by You,” and WWPW, WFLC and WRVW are already on the board. Calvin Harris + Disciples’ “How Deep Is Your Love” moves up inside the Top 20 after pullin in WITH, WDZH and WKST, among others. Both The Chainsmokers f/Rozes’ “Roses” and OMI’s “Hula Hoop” (Ultra) debuted on the chart this week. Empire f/Pitbull & Jussie Smollett’s “No Doubt About It” is currently chartbound, adding Venus, WHQC and WNFN last week.

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothschild & Farag are this close to taking Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” to #1 on the chart. With the pop panel all closed out and stations moving to power rotation based on terrific callout numbers, all they have to do is sit back and watch it climb. Alessia Cara’s “Here” is on over 170 Pop stations and is now Top 20 just as the callout starts to post big numbers; new this week are KIIS and WKTU.

Capitol’s Reese, Rainey, Youngblood & Siciliano are building a strong story with Audien f/Lady A’s “Something Better”; big adds last week included KHKS, KRBE and Venus, while big rotation increases came in from KZON, KIIS and WBLI. On that note, Halsey’s “New Americana” (Astralwerks) also had a big add week, snagging KEGY, KQMV, WFLC and WKSC. Look for that one to chart this week. Also this week, Capitol is launching a new track from 5 Seconds of Summer, “Hey Everybody.”

Epic’s Team Glassman are coming off a huge week with Meghan Trainor f/John Legend’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” which pulled in 34 new stations, including KIIS, KHTS, all of Cumulus and iHeart PC; this one became Top 20-bound very quickly. A Great Big World’s “Hold Each Other” (Black Magnetic) continues to grow and moves closer to the Top 25 this week, just as it goes Top 10 at Hot AC. Zara Larsson’s “Lush Life” is off to a good start with 13 new stations on board.

Warner Bros.Gray, Dyer, Reich & Shih have Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown” sitting just outside the Top 10 and looking to move up; this week’s big rotation increases have come from KQMV, KCHZ and WKST. Nico & Vinz f/B. Rexha’s “That’s How You Know” charted this week, pulling in WAPE, WBLI and WHKF.

Crush’s Erik Olesen is off to a terrific start with MAX f/Hoodie Allen’s “Gibberish” (DCD2/RAL) it is currently on over 40 Stations, including WAKS, KUDD, WZPL and WKSS.

L-R: Olesen, JJ Rice, MAX, Bob McLynn, Ryan Siegel

Artbeatz/RED’s Buch, Halpern & Weil have moved Daya’s “Hide Away” into the Top 25 with XHTZ, WFLC and WJFX new this week; the research, sales and Shazam numbers speak for themselves. Weil and Halpern launched Shaggy f/Pitbull’s “Only Love.” With close to 100 stations already on board, this one is poised to chart next week.

Republic’s CW, Spangler & Russell have two tracks moving toward the top of the chart: The Weeknd’s “The Hills” (XO), which is currently #2, and Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams,” which is #4. Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (Island) just took a big jump and moved Top 5, making it one of the week’s Greatest Gainers. They also have three tracks moving up inside the Top 20, as Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself” moves to #14, Nick Jonas’ “Levels” (Safehouse/Island) moves to #16 and Drake’s “Hotline Bling” (YMCMB) moves to #19 after a Most Added week. They’ve got two tracks debuting on the chart this week; Demi Lovato’s “Confident (Island/Safehouse/Hollywood), which debuted at #30, and DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean,” which joined the chart at #37. Impacting this week is Tove Lo’s “Moments” (Island).

MUSIC WE LOVE: Lipstick Gypsy’s “The Cure” (Epic), 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Hey Everybody” (Capitol).
