It’s October and we’ve already had the first big snowfall, along with mudslides all over the country. The Cubs are still in it. And did anyone miss the ending of the Michigan vs Michigan State game? Surely you have seen the highlights! Craziness is amok as we get this fourth quarter started. Hang on tight.

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothschild and Farag are celebrating Justin Bieber’s first #1 at Top 40 with “What Do You Mean?” this week, just prior to the album drop. The next single will be “Sorry” and it’ll be on your desk come 10/22. Alessia Cara’s “Here,” meanwhile, moves up inside the Top 20 with help from big spin increases at KIIS, WFLC and WXXL.

Capitol’s Reese, Rainey, Youngblood and Siciliano charted two tracks this week; Halsey’s “New Americana” (Astralwerks) moved up to #39 with new airplay from KKRZ, KPTT and KKMG, while 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Hey Everybody!” soared up to #35 and was one of last week’s Most Added tracks. Audien f/Lady A’s “Something Better” pulled in WNTQ, KCHZ and WJIM and is poised to make the Top 30 jump.

Warner Bros.Gray, Dyer, Reich and Shih moved Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown” Top 10 this week with big spin increases from Z100, KXXM, KDND and more. Nico & Vinz f/Bebe Rexha’s “That’s How You Know” pulled in seven new stations last week, as well as seven double-digit spin increases, moving the track up to #37.

Epic’s Team Glassman is celebrating the three AMA nominations for Meghan Trainor, just as “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” f/John Legend takes off after posting some terrific callout numbers. The single is #9 overall at iTunes and #6 on their pop singles chart, as well as #9 nationwide on Shazam. Up another eight spots, Zara Larsson’s “Lush Life” is close to charting, and Lipstick Gypsy’s “The Cure” is impacting this week.

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio, Cooper and Strazza had another big add week with Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s” last week, putting WBMP, WODS, WRQX and WPOI all on the board and pushing the track to #18 on the chart. Sia’s “Alive” (Monkey Puzzle) is sitting at #41. That one should chart this week, as should Pentatonix’s “Can’t Sleep Love.” The latter’s album is currently battling for the #1 spot on the Album Sales Chart. Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias’ “El Perdon (Forgiveness)” moves Top 30; it’s also #11 on Shazam worldwide and #18 in the U.S. Becky G’s “Break a Sweat” (Kemosabe) added WZFT, KNOU and KKDM last week, bringing the total number of stations to 55 as the track moves to #34. Impacting this week is Chris Brown’s “Zero.”

Pentatonix with KIIS' JoJo and RCA's Cooper

Artbeatz/RED’s Buch, Halpern and Weil are having great success with Daya’s “Hide Away”; the Shazam and sales numbers are impressive, and new adds include KLUC, WKQI and WWPW. Halpern and Weil have launched Shaggy’s new “Only Love,” which is already chartbound; new adds this week include WBLI, WJHM and WZMP.

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan have moved One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” (SYCO) into the Top 5 this week just as they launch second single “Perfect” in time for the upcoming album drop. Look for this one to be in the Most Added column. Calvin Harris & Disciples’ “How Deep Is Your Love” is heading Top 15 and posting big numbers at iTunes, Shazam and Spotify. Rachel Platten’s “Stand by You” pulled in some big early believers with WWPW, WFLC and WRVW. The Chainsmokers f/Rozes’ “Roses” keeps adding big stations to their list; new this week are KTFM, WNOW and KJYO. After two weeks on the chart, OMI’s “Hula Hoop” pulls in WNOW, KWNW and WHKF. Impacting this week is Coleman Hell’s “2Heads.”

Republic’s CW, Spangler & Russell are once again poised to take Taylor Swift to #1 with “Wildest Dreams” (Big Machine), as she rakes in six AMA noms and is continues to pose for photos with PDs in the green room night after night. Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (Island) moves to #4 and continues to post monstrous callout everywhere. "The callout on Shawn Mendes' "Stitches" gets stronger and stronger each week; the track has earned it's move to Power Rotation," shares WMKS PD Keith Allen. Drake’s “Hotline Bling” (YMCMB)—this week’s #2 Greatest Gainer—slides to #13; it’s #1 at iTunes, #1 at Spotify and #2 at Shazam. Nick Jonas “Levels” (Safehouse/Island) just posted #1 RTM callout F18-24 as the track moved to #14. Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself” is #15 this week, Top 10 on Spotify globally and Top 10 on SNOL. DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” has some very impressive call letters in its stack, including KIIS, AMP L.A., SiriusXM’s HITS 1 and WKSC. Tove Lo’s “Moments” (Island) was one of the Most Added last week, putting up 50 adds on impact. Launching this week is Fall Out Boy f/Demi Lovato’s “Irresistible” (DCD2/Island), which already has early airplay on the board from HITS 1, KKRZ, WIHT and WDZH. In Republic’s joint venture with Safehouse and Hollywood’s Finck, Smith and Ennis, Demi Lovato’s “Confident” scores 150 Top 40 stations for the board after just two weeks; it’s sitting at #23, and was this week’s Greatest Gainer at Shazam.

MUSIC WE LOVE: The Vamps’ “Wake Up” (Island/Republic), Chris Brown’s “Zero” (RCA).
