October! How can it be October already? You can definitely tell that is the fourth quarter when you look at all the major releases dropping at Pop. There is another big one every week it seems as we head toward the end of the year. And as a true sports fan, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Vin Scully—his voice is the sound of Dodger baseball. For many fans, he has been the announcer their entire lives; he is truly one of the GREATS!!! And will be missed. Thanks for the memories Vin.

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan are at the top of the Pop Chart for the second week with The Chainsmokers f/Halsey’s “Closer” (Disruptor) and they are still pulling in power rotation increases on this one. Calvin Harris’ “My Way” moved Top 20 this week and just scored new commitments from Venue, WBLI and WWMX to name a few. Frenship & Emily Warren’s “Capsize” moves Top 30 and the trends on Spotify and Shazam showed big increases this week. Mike Perry f/Shy Martin’s “The Ocean” (DF Records) officially impacts this week and early supporters include KHTS, KDND and WPST. Ayokay f/Quinn XCII’s “Kings of Summer” lists early supporters such as KHKS, WDZH and WIOG.

Republic’s CW, Spangler & Russell came charging out of the gate with The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (XO) last week. It was #1 Most Added with 157 stations and also the week’s Greatest Gainer; it is also #2 on iTunes—not a bad start at all! Shawn Mendes’ “Treat You Better” (Island) is officially #3 and climbing as stations continue to move to Power on this track. Hailey Steinfeld & Grey f/Zedd’s “Starving” is poised to move Top 15 as WHYI, WPOI, and KXXM join in. Ariana Grande f/Nicki Minaj’s “Side to Side” joins the Top 25 and was the fifth Greatest Gainer this week; there are 132m video views to date. Tove Lo’s “Cool Girl” (Island) charted after a huge impact week that included WBMP, WMVQ, KYLD and KLIF. Look for a big add week on DNCE’s “Body Moves” this week—in just three days from release there were already 1m streams of the video.

Caroline’s Saturn, Halpern & Holman are launching Hey Violet’s “Guys My Age” (5Mode). The track is at 1m streams in just one week and debuted Top 10 on Spotify U.S. and Top 20 Globally. Early believers already on the board this week are WKSC, WXKS, WQMP and WFLZ. This one looks to be on fire early.

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothchild & Farag have Alessia Cara’s “Scars (To Your Beautiful)” set to make the Top 20 jump with 179 Pop stations on board; Rate The Music has it Top 5 research in the female demo. Kanye West’s “Fade” (G.O.O.D.) is set to have a big week this week with Z100 and WXKS climbing on board to add to the other 70+ stations. There are close to 1b streams on The Life of Pablo to date. Impacting next week is Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain” (Westbury Road).

Epic’s Team Glassman had a huge week, pulling in almost 100 Pop stations on Fifth Harmony’s “That’s My Girl” (SYCO), this one should chart soon. Zara Larsson’s “Ain’t My Fault” (TEN) has closed out nearly half the panel in just two weeks and is bubbling just under and looking to chart next week. Meghan Trainor f/Yo Gotti’s “Better” is heading Top 25 and has all but closed out the panel. Next up is their Hot AC hit “11 Blocks” from Wrabel.

Capitol’s Marella, Rainey, Youngblood & Siciliano are impacting their new signing Niall Horan of One Direction fame. “This Town” is off and running, debuting on the chart at #35 just a few days after release; look for it at the top of the Add board this week.
