SONY/ATV GIVES ABITBOL THE DIGITS
7/14/16

Sony/ATV has upped Michael Abitbol to SVP Business & Legal Affairs, Digital; in his new post he’ll continue to report to EVP Biz & Legal Peter Brodsky. The gig will see Abitbol working on licensing agreements with services like Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon and Pandora, and playing Pokemon Go when nobody’s watching. Brodsky congratulated him on the promotion and hailed him as “a seasoned executive with a great understanding of the complex issues facing our industry in a time of enormous change.”

Abitbol came to the pubco in 2012 from EMI Music Publishing; prior to that he worked as an attorney at NYC firm Davis & Gilbert. He began his music career doing day-to-day management for artists such as Maxi Priest and Big Mountain, acquiring such vital skills as rolling a blunt the size of a rolling pin.
