BIG MOVES FROM BIG DEAL
6/28/17

Big Deal Music Publishing has bolstered its international stable of execs with the addition of Kate Sweetsur and Joe Maggini. Sweetsur, named Senior Vice President A&R/Creative, will be based in London, while Maggini, the new Vice President/Head of Global Synch, will work from the pubco’s Encino, CA headquarters.

It’s a reunion of sorts for Sweetsur, who worked with Big Deal Founder/President Kenny MacPherson when both were at Chrysalis Music Publishing. She arrives at her new gig from BMG, where, as Co-Head of A&R/VP Creative, she signed a stable of writers that include Labrinth, Ed Harcourt and Steve Robson. She’s also spent time at Notting Hill Music and Edsel Publishing.

“I am so happy to be reunited with Kenny and the gang,”Sweetsur said. “Kenny and the guys have put together a phenomenal roster and team that is second to none, and I look forward to building on that in the U.K. and Europe.”

Maggini arrives by way of Format Music Solutions, an all-in-one shop that features a label, publishing company, custom music creation business and orchestral trailer library. He’s also been Director of Creative at Universal Music Publishing, working a roster that included Daniel Lanois and Macy Gray.

“It’s an honor to be joining Big Deal,” said Maggini. “I’m looking forward to working with Big Deal’s roster of stellar writers, artists, and producers, who represent some of the best in the business."

"Kate and Joe are great creative executives, and better yet awesome people, with outstanding integrity, who will only add to the ethos and vibe of Big Deal Music. I am thrilled to be working with them both," MacPherson said, vowing to embark on a haggis binge to celebrate the new hires.
