To what extent/degree are your writers working on projects outside of the country genre?
Big Deal Music Nashville has definitely been experiencing an uptick in activity outside of the country genre. Steph Jones, who was originally signed out of our Nashville office, is now living in Los Angeles, focusing on pop writing as well as country. While she still frequently visits Nashville for writer trips, she has made herself a known pop writer with cuts by artists like Sabrina Carpenter (current single “Almost Love”), Panic! At the Disco, Liam Payne, James Blunt and Bea Miller. Both Brad Tursi and Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini) have been making trips to L.A., writing with pop writers and establishing new circles in the process. Nashville-based signings Shakey Graves, Tim Bruns, Aaron Espe, Dan Fernandez and Zeke Duhon have all had success in the sync world with companies like Samsung (Shakey Graves), Lufthansa (Bruns), Toys’R’Us (Espe), and Cox Communications (Fernandez/Duhon), among many others.
