SMP SCORES ON GRAMMY NIGHT
3/15/21

While there were no lavish post-Grammys bashes this year, Sony Music Publishing did enjoy a historic night of wins at the 63rd Grammy Awards. Leading the event with nine nominations, Beyoncé took home four wins and officially became the most-awarded female artist in Grammy history.

Her record-breaking wins included Best R&B Performance for “BLACK PARADE,” Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl,” as well as Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Savage” with Megan Thee Stallion, which was co-written by Bobby Sessions, J. White, Pardi and Jay-Z.

Other notable wins included Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff for AOTY (Taylor Swift’s folklore)—who performed with Swift during the show—and Best Latin Pop Album for Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, which was penned by SMP songwriters Tainy, Daddy Yankee, Myke Towers, Jowell & Randy, Mambo Kingz, Haze, Richi Lopez, Ezequiel EZ Rivera and Nino Segarra.

Also among SMP-repped winners were Miranda Lambert (Best Country Album for Wildcard), Lady Gaga (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with “Rain on Me” co-written by Bloodpop and Burns), Kanye West (Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Jesus is King), PJ Morton (Best Gospel Album with Gospel According to PJ), Kortney Pollard (Best Gospel Performance/Song for “Movin’ On”) and Koz and Lindgren (Best Pop Vocal Album for Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia).

“I am extremely grateful for the many contributions of all our songwriters – last night’s ceremony highlighted the importance of their powerful music, which has motivated us and brought us together over the last year. We proudly congratulate all our Grammy nominees and winners and celebrate their incredible, history-making achievements in music,” reads an internal message from SMP Chairman and CEO Jon Platt.
