PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK: BEACH BAR BOUTIQUE - VOLUME 12
7/31/18

At the start of 2012, Jonathan Good, a longtime music enthusiast, decided to join Spotify as a playlist curator—unaware of the opportunities curating would bring him. His passion for collecting and sharing music was sparked at a fairly young age, and he often spent his allowance money on blank CDs to burn mixes for his friends. Shortly after signing up for the streaming service, Good started exploring playlist discovery sites like playlists.net, where active Spotify community members, users and curators, share their favorite independent playlists. “Once my playlists were featured on the site, I was able to share my music to a wider audience.” Good says. “My profile started growing arms and legs from that point on.”

His Spotify profile is mostly known for its Beach Bar Boutique collection, which currently features 15 volumes of upbeat tracks, across a diverse set of genres. The idea came to him during a holiday in Spain, “I think i was sitting at a beach bar, sipping on a beer and listening to some cool tunes. Later on, I thought to myself, why not try and soundtrack that moment." His most-streamed collection, Volume 12, was released in July 2017 and has since accumulated over 1.8k followers.

With over 17k followers across his diverse playlist offerings, Good is clearly in the know when it comes to discovering new music. His strategy for finding and supporting artists often comes from searching through social media and discovering who’s new and trending. Through his support, Good has been able to introduce independent artists to a larger audience, often resulting in adds on Spotify curated playlists.

Good accepts outside submissions on the following hubs: Soundplate, Submithub, and Fluence.
