PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK:
CHILLED HOUSE
9/5/18

When we first spoke to Jonathan and James Kinnear about their playlist network, Double J Music, they were ecstatic to bring up their most recently curated playlist, Chilled House, which, at the time, was hitting the 10k-followers mark. Now, only a month later, the playlist has recruited over 2k new followers, becoming one of the Top 5 most-followed playlists on their Spotify profile. They now have over 200k followers across all their playlists combined. “We’re on track to hit a quarter of a million before the end of summer, and now are among the top curators on Spotify on a global scale," says Jonathan.

Whether winding down or prepping for a night out, the playlist works for any mood you’re in. You’ll find a mix of underground and radio mid-tempo house tracks—“Normally less than 126BPM,” mentions Jonathan. “The chilled house vibe is very much at the heart of Ibiza, an island we spend a lot of time in, where we’ve discovered a handful of new tracks that fit effortlessly into our playlists—Shazam is our savior.” Jonathan adds that although he and his brother discover tracks on the go, “A large percentage of the tracks in this playlist come via the submission form on our website.”

With all the new deep house and nu-disco tracks being released this year, there's no question surrounding why their discovery-friendly playlists have accumulated so many followers in such a short time. You’ll find artists like Disclosure, Disciples, Oliver Nelson, Charming Horses and Jonathan’s favorite, Claptone. “Fantast has been a firm favorite since it came out last month. It’s brilliantly thoughtful and escapist. We have several tracks from the album currently in the playlists.”
