Hailing from Brooklyn, Ian Isiah has been making a splash in the R&B scene since 2013, but with the arrival of his latest EP, AUNTIE, he’s bringing back the funk. Produced by Chromeo, the EP pays tribute to a classic funk sound and marks his inaugural release under the producer pair’s new imprint, Juliet Records.
With over 350k Spotify streams since its release, AUNTIE references ‘70s and ‘80s music and includes previously released singles like “Princess Pouty,” “N.U.T.S.” and the gospel-infused “Loose Truths.” Combining Isiah’s unmistakably smooth vocals with Chromeo’s signature funk elements, you can also hear saxophones and heavy bass lines on the 7-track EP from N.Y. jazz band Onyx Collective.
In addition to Isiah’s musical projects, the transformative artist has a background in the fashion world and is currently working on a revival collection by Hood By Air, the fashion label he helped launch in 2010. He also launched an exclusive first line of SHUGGA merch to accompany his EP.
Stream AUNTIE below and check out the SHUGGA line here.
