Radio Vet Rises To President Of SFX Multimedia, Might Write A Book About It

SFX announced today that Gerry "AT&T Digital" Cagle had been upped to President of SFX Multimedia, replacing Steve "I'm Not The Drummer From Journey" Smith, who was recently promoted to a corporate Executive Vice President role at SFX.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the largest live entertainment company in the world. Continuing to grow the core business of SFX Multimedia while creating synergistic opportunities between SFX and Clear Channel is a challenge I accept enthusiastically," said Cagle, briefly proud of using the word synergistic. "The future of our combined companies is bright and I'm proud to be a part of it."

Among other duties, Cagle will oversee the publication of seven trade magazines, including "Album Network," "Network 40" and "Urban Network"; "Live Tonight," a consumer publication distributed at all SFX venues; plus the reference publication "The Yellow Pages of Rock," which gathers radio airplay and music retail information for record labels, artist managers, retailers and broadcasters.

In his 30-year career in radio programming, Cagle has worked at KHJ Los Angeles, KFRC San Francisco and WAPP New York. The multitalented Cagle has also served as Chief of Staff for Gov. Cliff Finch of Mississippi and has authored three published fiction novels, including "Sheet Music" published last year.

Cagle was most recently Executive VP, Publishing for SFX Multimedia

"Gerry Cagle has the experience and vision to continue the growth and expansion of SFX Multimedia, while remaining focused on strengthening its solid reputation as a resource for the entire music industry," said SFX Chairman and CEO Brian Becker. "He also knows exactly what I mean when I say ‘light starch.'"
