DIGITAL MUSIC DISTRIBUTION MEETS POLITICAL PARODY

Hilarity Doesn’t Really Ensue
As political parody songs go, it's no "Bomb Iran"—as sung to the Beach Boys' Barbara Ann"—or even "Millard Fillmore Can't Do Either," but Southern Discomfort's Joe Lieberman Song, "Everything's Coming Up Roses," has something that neither of those two classics did—digital downloadability. The Atlanta-based satire troop recently released its second CD, but seeing the comedic goldmine that is Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Lieberman, they immediately recorded a new song and put it on their Web site. OK, not immediately, but at least before the election.

Here's some of the text of the song, which is sung to "Everything's Coming Up Roses" in the voice of Democratic Presidential candidate Al Gore: "Joe is wise and he's deft. So what if he reads right to left?" That's pretty much the best lyric. But hey, you don't have to hear it on your morning radio show, you can download it now and start to annoy your co-workers.

Just imagine what Southern Discomfort can do if Gore/Lieberman wins! We'll be watching this story very carefully.
