SCARY MOVIE 3PLUS HALLOWEEN EQUALS BOX OFFICE CHAMP

See, Math Really Can Be Your Friend
There’s no better time to see a horror spoof than Halloween weekend. Which might explain why the movie Scary Movie 3 was released two weeks ago, but it definitely explains why it hung on to the top spot of the box office this weekend.

The flick brought in $22.1 million, which allowed it to hold off Disney’s animated Brother Bear, which opened Saturday, and brought in $18.5 million. Brother Bear didn’t open on Friday, which, in case you’re still drunk from the costume party, was Halloween, because that night is apparently very big with the kids.

The week’s other big debut was Radio, which is either Cuba Gooding Jr.’s sequel to Boat Trip or a feel-good buddy flick about a friendship between a mentally disabled man and a football coach. Radio took in $10.2 million to land in fourth.

The Matrix Revolutions opens on Wednesday. Just a heads-up, as the IT staff will be “sick” that day.

Here’s the rest of the Top 10: #3 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ($10.9m); #5 Runaway Jury ($6.9m); #6 Mystic River ($6.3m); #7 Kill Bill—Vol. 1 ($4.7m); #8 The School of Rock ($4.4m); #9 Intolerable Cruelty ($2.7m); #10 In the Cut ($2.2m).
