SO CAL COLLEGE RADIO CONF CATCHES AIR

Collegiate Broadcasters Gather to Celebrate Music, Ramen
Ah, to relive the carefree days of college, only this time without hallucinogens.

The second annual Southern California College Radio Conference, which goes down on Sunday, 4/18, at downtown L.A.’s Wilshire Grand, offers you a chance to do just that.

The one-day confab, hosted by University of Southern California station KSCR, is designed to put college radio management and airstaff together with labels, indie retail and promo, performance-rights orgs, journalists and musicians to talk about how all the emo bands have sold out and how cute the chick in Rilo Kiley is.

Oh, and, like, the future of college radio, dude!

Internet DJ David Lawrence will be the keynote speaker. Panels will cover webcasting (with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and SoundExchange reps), the FCC and other issues. There will also be "job breakout sessions," a sit-down lunch and workshops on DJ training, campus concerts and kindred concerns.

Materials designed to solidify and expand the organization as a representative of the interests of college broadcasters in the region will circulate throughout the day.

It’ll also be a chance for you to reach a bunch of people who actually care a great deal about music. Get it?

The registration fee is a measly $35, and group rates are available; you can email Amy Williams for more info. So stop complaining about losing kids to the Internet and get your tuchus in gear.
