CBS RADIO CUTS BACK

Stung by Stern Defection, Station Cuts More Than 100, Including KROQ GM Reeb
Howard Stern may be gone, but his legacy isn't forgotten at his old home.

Stung by the morning drive giant's defection to Sirius Satellite Radio, CBS Radio is cutting an unspecified number of jobs at its radio stations in the United States, according to a Reuters report, including the exit of beloved longtime KROQ GM Trip Reeb and the net's President of Programming Rob Barnett.

The company declined to announce the exact number of layoffs, although a source said CBS was cutting about 115 positions, out of the more than 8,500 full and part-time positions, at its 179 stations.

The job cuts are part of a previously announced initiative to manage costs. More than a month ago, CBS announced plans to divest up to 35 stations in smaller markets with lower revenue producing potential, including those in Kansas City, Memphis, Buffalo and Rochester.
