SPOTLIGHT
The Grownup Noise
(http://thegrownupnoise.com): This indie-rock/folk/pop band hailing out of Boston got our attention right away with their unconventional instrumentation (cello/pedal steel/accordion). They wrapped up their sixth national tour last August, playing 30+ shows behind their sophomore album, This Time With Feeling, in venues from Schuba’s in Chicago to the Sliverlake Lounge in L.A. They’ve sold out their last five hometown shows, drawing well over 500 to their album release at the Middle East Downstairs. Along the way, the band has shared stages with the likes of Thao With the Get Down Stay Down, Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo), Brother (U.K.), and The Guggenheim Grotto, among others. If you’re going to SXSW, be sure to check them out—we guarantee you won’t be disappointed. And you’ve got three chances to catch a set. Here’s their schedule:

* Wed., March 14, 3:30 p.m. @ Agave, 415 E. 6th St. (As Built PR/Vanya Records Day Party)
* Thurs., March 15, 7 p.m., official SXSW showcase @ Lambert's, 401 2nd St. (Green Room Music Source/Rock the Cause), with Tommy Stinston of The Replacements
* Fri., March 16, 3:30 p.m. @ Friend's Bar, 208 E. 6th St. (Berklee's Official SXSW)
