Big Star event

A CONCERT & A HOMECOMING: Big Star’s #1 Record and Third will be performed in toto with full orchestrations Saturday night at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in L.A. Surviving member Jody Stephens and Posies Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer, who’ve been part of the reconstituted Big Star since 1993, will be joined in this expansive staging by Mike Mills , Ira Kaplan , Mitch Easter, Django Haskins (The Old Ceremony), Brett Harris, Chris Stamey, Jeff Crawford and Skylar Gudasz, There will also be guest appearances by The Bangles, Aimee Mann, Pete Yorn, Grouplove, Dan Wilson, Dean Wareham, Jason Falkner, Tommy Keene, Sarabeth Tucek and Luther Russell. Van Dyke Parks will conduct the chamber orchestra. Yowza. The show, which will benefit Autism Think Tank, was put together by Gary Stewart and David Gorman’s Trunkworthy.
