YE JOLLY OLDE iTUNES U.K. CHARTS: There’s nary a bagpipe to be heard following Scotland’s populace voting to remain part of the U.K., but those upstart Colonies are making noise on the album chart, as RCA’s Chris Brown adds a big X to a leaderboard on which Ed Sheeran’s little x has become a fixture. Interestingly, Brown is outpointing Columbia’s Barbra Streisand over there, the opposite of over here. The other debut is from Irish alternative band Catfish and the Bottlemen (we’ll have to check them out). Singles-wise, yet another dance-y debut has zoomed to the top spot, but the bigger, more lasting story today is Columbia’s George Ezra, who has two tracks in the Top 10, while his debut album, released in May, surges back to #3. Can he duplicate his breakthrough in the States? Too soon to tell, but the mid-’60s-sounding “Budapest” is #19 with sn upward-pointing arrow on the Mediabase Triple A chart. One to watch. Yet another Columbia act, The Script, is also coming on strong, as the Jason Iley era kicks in. (9/19a)
